Artist Statement
I am currently an undergraduate student at Concordia University in painting and drawing. I am also interested in the theatrical approach to a visual medium. Having played 6 years in various leagues of Improv and holding a DEC in theater, I am extremely interested in the involvement an actor face with their medium. Following Konstantin Stanislavski study, I am fascinated by the impact of the emotional experience and the affective memory on the actor's performance.
In the execution of my study, I seek to visually represent the play of the characters in the scene. Somehow, I try to paint the view of the main actor of the work. I want to illustrate the sensible impression of the character and not mine. It is important to specify that I often collaborate with the actors of my paintings.
Currently, I am working on a collection with an artist surnamed El Chico. It seeks to create a discussion on the way male figure is presented through popular culture. Presenting himself as a "superhero ", he criticizes the importance accorded to the image of the strong man and wants to present a sensible portrait of an invulnerable hero.
